5E Learning Cycle - A Planning Methods in Science

Learning Cycle (Learning Cycle) 5E - A Planning Methods in Science

Cycle of learning is one method of planning that has been recognized in science education. Learning cycle was developed based on the theory developed in the present about how students should learn. This method is a method that is easy to use by teachers and can provide opportunities to develop creativity in every student's learning our science.

Learning cycle consists of five phases (5E) which relate to each other, namely:

1) Phase Engage (Attention-Tie)
Engage phase is the initial phase. In this phase the teacher creates a situation puzzle according to the topic that students will be studied. Teachers can ask questions (for example: why does this happen? How do I know? Etc.) and students' responses are used to find out what things are already known by them. This phase can also be used to identify student misconceptions.

2) Phase Exploration (Exploration)
During the exploration phase, students should be given the opportunity to collaborate with their peers without direct guidance from the teacher. This phase is the phase according to Piaget's theory of "imbalance" in which students have been confused. This phase is an opportunity for students to test their hypothesis or prediction, discuss with friends sekelompoknya and set decisions.

3) Phase Explain (Explain)
In this phase, teachers encourage students to explain concepts in their own words.

4) Phase Expand (Renewal)
In this phase, students should apply concepts and skills they already have for other situations.

5) Phase Evaluate (Evaluation)
Evaluations conducted during the learning take place. The teacher on duty to observe students' knowledge and skills in applying concepts and changes in student thinking. READ MORE .....
